Cup semifinals
Waikato teams have made the semifinals a further five times since Hamilton Technical Old Boys became the first provincial club to win the Chatham Cup in 1962. Strictly speaking not Waikato, but many Waikato fans were there - given there was no national league here at the time - and Mount won 1-0 to make the final (where they also won the first leg against North Shore only to lose the second leg 4-1.

Rotorua City v Mt Maunganui, Linton Park
Again, not Waikato clubs, but one of the greatest cup semifinal upsets of all time as mid-table northern premier league Rotorua City beat national league Mt Maunganui, featuring All Whites Declan Edge, Greg Little and Tony Ferris 2-0 (before losing the final 7-1 against Christchurch United).
