Wanderers Sports Club
The current Wanderers Sports Club (Hamilton) was constituted in 1965 - though the club likes to trace its roots to the earlier Hamilton Wanderers which merged with Technical Old Boys to form Hamilton AFC. The original Wanderers club was formed in 1913, but due to the war went into recess for the next four years. It was resurrected in 1918.
Wanderers won the Northern league Division 4 in 1989, Division 3 in 1990, and Division 2 in 1991, in a golden run, before again winning Division 1 in 1997. The Porritt Stadium clubrooms were built in 1989.

2013 Northern Premier League, June 1 v Manurewa
In the programme editorial versus Manurewa, northern league team manager Rod de Lisle renamed Porritt Stadium as "Porridge Stadium", a reference to the fact that heavy rain, and high playing numbers had stretched the quality of the home playing surface, while Wanderers off-pitch facilities were also under severe strain. "We must be the only premier league team that has to get kitted up in the kitchen," he noted.
Wanderers ended up playing some of their home matches at Beetham Park.

2014 - Wanderers away programmes
A singularly curious thing occurred with Wanderers away programmes in 2014.
Inexplicably, random classic rock stars started appearing in the Wanderers squad list at away matches.

Spectators were treated to:
Joe Walsh v Bay Olympic (above)
Roger Daltrey v Glenfield Rovers, Bob Dylan v Three Kings (right)
Bob Marley v North Shore United, Ozzy Osbourne v East Coast Bays
And, astonishingly, against Onehunga Sports, there was Jon Bonjovi (extreme left, above)
It would appear that nobody has ever noticed apart from those reading this webpage. It's our little secret.
