Welcome
About this website....
This website (very much a work in progress) is an archive of Waikato football programmes over the decades. It contains images of the covers, photos and inside pages of many of the memorable programmes that have been published here in the past 50-odd years.
Combined, they help tell part of the story of Waikato football.
The primary objective is to foster awareness of the strong literary heritage the game has in the Waikato. The more historic programmes presented here will bring back memories for some, and trigger curiosity in others.
Clicking on the programme covers displayed will bring a larger image in most cases, and in some - particularly within the Ngaruawahia United section - links to the entire programme.
Over time more content will be added, so it is worth checking back at regular intervals.
Scans and details of other historic Waikato club programmes are welcomed. Particularly sought are home programmes for the Waikato FC entity which leased Claudelands Rovers northern premier league berth in 1987 (and won the league).
NB An increasing amount of correspondence has been received from former players and fans wanting to purchase copies of old programmes or get scans done of them. Copies of many Waikato United, Waikato FC and Melville programmes are readily available for a minimal charge, and even a limited number of Hamilton AFC programmes. Inquiries for other clubs displayed here can be passed on to the relevant people. Scans of the odd page can be forwarded free of charge where the source documentation is on hand, otherwise there is a small charge if bulk scanning is sought or locating specific programmes becomes labour-intensive.
See the contact page for all email correspondence. Feedback welcomed.
Those interested in New Zealand football literature should also visit the www.sitterfanzine.weebly.com website.
Or those interested in Waikato football history should check out (still under construction) www.muirpark.weebly.com
